The Living Well has been created as a new portal dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing across Dumfries and Galloway. This services contains information on a variety of organisations from the public, private and third sector – all of which play a positive role on individual’s lives. This can range from traditional services such as care and support to recreational groups, entertainment and hobbies.

By using this site’s main search facility, users will be able to search for activities and services which benefit their health and wellbeing.

This can be done in a variety of ways:

Users can search for a topic, such as ‘older people’ ‘care’ or ‘support’, using the ‘Search for’ box and be presented with a list throughout the region.

Users can search on what is available in their local community by using the ‘Town/Location’ box (this includes place names and postcode areas e.g. Dumfries; Annan; DG1 or DG8).

Users can search for a topic within a particular community by entering information into both boxes. E.g. “Dementia” in “Stranraer”.

Users can adjust the radius of all their searches by using the drop-down menu on the right. This can range from less than a mile to any distance. E.g. “Hospitals within a 25 mile radius of Castle Douglas”.

The search facility is powered by A Local Information Service for Scotland (ALISS). By working in partnership with ALISS and utilising the  programme, The Living Well is able to remain regional, whilst still contributing information at a national level.
